Pemanfaatan Daun Pepaya (Carica papaya L.), Daun Serai (Cymbopogon citratus), Daun Salam (Syzygium polyanthum) sebagai Mat Eco-Antimosco

Abstract

Mosquitoes and cockroaches are insects that can cause health and comfort problems, often managed using chemical-based products. The use of chemicals is risky to human health and ecosystems, so safer and more environmentally friendly control alternatives are needed. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of eco-antimosco mats made from papaya leaves, lemongrass, and bay in controlling mosquito populations (Anopheles sinensis) and cockroaches (Periplaneta americana). The method used is an experiment by testing this product under controlled conditions, comparing the time it takes to kill insects with a commercial product. The results showed that eco-antimosco mats were more efficient at killing mosquitoes and cockroaches in a shorter time, with an average time of 20 minutes for mosquitoes and 1 hour and 27 minutes for cockroaches, compared to chemical products that took longer. In addition, this product is also safer because it is made of natural ingredients that do not cause harmful side effects and provide longer protection (more than 10 hours). This study concludes that eco-antimosco mat is a more effective, environmentally friendly, and affordable alternative to pest control, with great potential to replace chemical products on the market.
